International Airport
is the largest and central Airport
of Israel. The airport
is Located 15 Kilometers
southeast to Tel Aviv and it only takes 15-20 minutes of driving from the
airport to the city center.
By the year of 2006 almost 9 million people passed through the airport. The
airport ranks in the first place for the biggest airport among other
International airports.
Ben Gurion Airport to Tel Aviv
If you are looking for
the most convent option to get to your accommodation after the long flight,
take a taxi. Maybe it's not the cheapest decision, but when you sit in the taxi
and find yourself in the doorsteps of you hotel it really makes your life
easier, especially if it's your first time in Tel Aviv.
The airports authority of Israel owns all the taxi companies at the airport. Make sure you use those taxi companies only and other drivers that passed through. You can find their organized offices just outside the terminal.
Cost: Should cost
around 100-130 NIS
(approx. 25-30 USD) According to the meter. Extra charge (3 NIS) for more than one suitcase. Extra charge
(25%) may be charged on holidays or weekends. The drivers must (by the law)
operate a meter on every occasion. Unless you know the prices, don't agree on
any other fare.
Frequency : By request.Time to city center : Approx 20-30 minutes - depends of traffic.
The best choice
for group more than 3 people. Other places call it a shuttle. In Israel
we call it Service Taxi. You can find the drivers just outside the
arrival lobby.
Cost: 30-50 NIS (Approx. 10 USD) Less convenient but a cheap way to get to the city center.
The Bus companies are
well orginized just outside the terminal. Wide, quite and fast, take you directly
to the city center, Yarkon street
near the shore (where most of hotels), and other popular spots arround the city
center. You have planny of space for your luggages with no extra charge like
taxi.

Cost: 20-25 NIS (Approx. 6 USD)
The Railway is a defiantly
one of the best way to get yourself to the city center. Cheap, convenient and
fast. You need to make sure it doesn't take you directly to your
hotel/apartment but outside the stations you can find a lot of nice taxi
drivers that take you wherever you want.
Cost: 13 NIS (Approx. 3 USD)
If you rent a car, the
way to Tel Aviv is easy as 1-2-3. Just follow the signs when you drive out the
parking zone. Tel Aviv is the main destination for arrivals to the airport, so
you have no chance missing the city.
Ben Gurion Airport has
more than 11,000 parking spaces, so if you tend to get back to Israel while
visiting other destinations like Jordan or East Europe, you can park your car
in the Airport for a long/short term period.
